For six years I worked as an Autism Mentor with a young man name TJ Davey. When he was 3 he barely talked. He would ask for a drink or food and he would say Mom, Dad , his sisters name's Crystal and Brittany. He also knew the name of his horse, Fancy, his dog named Dixie and his cat named Maggie. His language skills were at the minimum.
TJ loved television and especially commercials. When he first started school, he would sing songs to some commercials and a lot of us didn't know which one it was, because he would whisper so low that in order to hear him, we would have our ear right next to his mouth.
In his first grade year, TJ progressed and became more and more social and at times he would yell out the jingles to some of the songs he used to whisper. He turned out to be quite the funny comedienne and he also knew he could get a good laugh from his classmates.
Because I worked in first grade at the time, I had quite the collection of cartoon character t-shirts. One of TJ favourite t-shirts was one that had the Geico lizard on it. We figured that it was good idea wearing the t-shirts because they made TJ talk.
We learned a lot about what Geico life insurance cover in that school year. I never even knew Geico sold life insurance cover. I thought that they just handled car, boat and motor vehicle insurance. I learn from TJ about Geico in general and that their life insurance cover was cheap. Geico had a group life insurance cover could protect me and my loved ones in case of a tragic death. TJ also quotes the amount of each policy, and what each policy would cover. He would also get on the internet to compare life insurance policies with other companies.
This was all amazing, especially coming from a child that the doctors claimed would never talk, be potty trained or be in a regular education classroom. He really fooled those doctors. Not only did he learn how to look up life insurance cover companies online, but he got to the point that he constantly talked and we would have to warn him to be quiet during the teacher's lessons. We witnessed the miracle of Mr. TJ talking and he hasn't stopped since.
