The next morning she went to go check her email after working at her term life insurance web site, answering all kinds of interesting questions about…you guessed it…term life insurance. When she checked her inbox, she found an email in her box! Here is the following exchange that went on between her and the author:

Hi, First off, I am a total novice at this, and am not too sure how to proceed. I have received many responses, and haven't seen anything that I really like so far, but there have been a lot of great artists sending ideas. Anyway, like I said I am a novice, and I told this story to my first child, and then it took on a life of its own. What are you thinking as far as compensation, if we decide to proceed? Thanks for your interest!

Hi! Don’t worry about it being a first time thing, the illustrator in my term life insurance book was new too, so everything was new, but it all worked out really smoothly. First of all, she did eight drawings for me and a cover and I paid her $250 for everything, but I am not picky with prices. What I was thinking for the pictures would be a mother/father sitting with his/her child at bedtime and telling them a little story maybe. The first picture could show the child and parent, and the others could either be a close up of the toes, or show the toes as little individual characters with clothes and things. Example, the happy toe playing on a swing set, and the sad toe crying in the sandbox because it got sand in its eyes.I attached a (very) rough sketch to show you a little bit about what I meant when it came to the first drawing idea. I made it on my graphics tablet in just a couple minutes, so it is very simple and just shows a little bit of the layout for the drawing. I am still interested in working with you, and hope to hear from you soon! I will be a little busy with my latest term life insurance book, but I will still have plenty of time to work on the book!Thank You,Merry

Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you in a while! I am having a few issues with my term life insurance. My company has changed its online rates without telling me. I hope to hear from you soon, oh and I think it would be a good idea to have the story start out with the parents telling the story, and then go on to show the toes too. I like that idea.
